RIO DE JANEIRO, April 7 (Xinhua) -- New York City have reached a deal to sign highly rated forward Thiago Andrade from Brazilian Serie A club Bahia, according to media reports in the South American country.
The Brazilian Football Confederation said on Wednesday that Bahia had released the 20-year-old from their squad, without providing details.
However, local news outlet Globo Esporte said Thiago had already agreed to the transfer and would travel to the US in the coming days.
Thiago made 12 first-team appearances for Bahia, nine of which came in Brazil's top flight in the latter half of last year.
New York City, an affiliate of English Premier League giants Manchester City, will begin their 2021 Major League Soccer season with a visit to D.C. United on April 17. Enditem
