BEIJING, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Zhejiang Golden Bulls guard Wu Qian claimed the 2020/21 CBA regular season Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, as winners in 10 categories were released on Thursday.

Wu averaged 19 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.6 assists and one steal in 46 appearances, leading Zhejiang to third place in the regular season standings with a 41-11 win-loss record, the best in the Zhejiang franchise's history.

Wu led the vote from media representatives with 276 points, overshadowing Liaoning Flying Leopards guard Zhao Jiwei and Shenzhen Aviators center Shen Zijie, who both had 229.

The trio was also named in the First All-CBA Domestic Team along with Zhou Qi from the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, and the Zhejiang Lions' Hu Jinqiu.

Wu's MVP award comes after he also won the All-Star Game MVP less than one month ago.

The award for Best Foreign Player went to Guangdong Southern Tigers scoring guard Marshon Brooks, who averaged 27.3 points in 46 matches before rupturing his Achilles tendon last month, which will sideline him for the rest of the season.

Defending champions Guangdong were unsurprisingly big winners in the vote, claiming three other personal awards.

Leading the team to a league-best 46-6 record, Du Feng was named Coach of the Year for the third straight season. Zhou Peng became Defensive Player of the Year, and Hu Mingxuan took away the Sixth Man of the Year award.

Gao Shiyan, who joined the Shandong Heroes from Liaoning this season, was honored as the Most Improved Player.

Liaoning forward Zhang Zhenlin was named Rookie of the Year. With great talent and athleticism, freshman Zhang recorded 14.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game, as Liaoning sit second behind Guangdong with a 45-9 record.

The Second All-CBA Domestic Team included Han Dejun, Zhang Zhenlin and Guo Ailun from Liaoning, and Zhou Peng and Zhao Rui from Guangdong.

Apart from Brooks, the other members of the All-CBA Foreign Team were Donatas Motiejunas (Xinjiang), Dakari Johnson (Qingdao Eagles), Hamed Haddadi (Sichuan Blue Whales) and Lester Hudson (Shandong).

The 2020/21 CBA playoffs begin on Friday. The top four sides in the regular season will enjoy a bye in the first round, and the remaining four quarterfinal berths will be decided after knockout matches on Friday and Saturday. Enditem
