BOGOTA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Winger Juan Otero has been omitted from Colombia's Copa America squad after testing positive for COVID-19, the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) said on Friday.

The 26-year-old is asymptomatic but will remain in isolation and under medical observation, complying with Colombia's health protocols, the FCF said.

"Coach Reinaldo Rueda, his assistants and the group of players wish Otero a speedy recovery, hoping that in the next opportunity he can be part of our team," read an FCF statement.

The FCF did not immediately name a replacement for the Santos Laguna player, who had been called up to the national team for the first time.

The Copa America will be played in Brazil from June 13 to July 10.

Colombia will begin their campaign against Ecuador in Cuiaba on Sunday and will also meet Brazil, Peru and Venezuela in the group stage. Enditem
