RIO DE JANEIRO, June 20 (Xinhua) -- First-half goals from Marinho and teenager Gabriel Pirani gave Santos a 2-0 home victory over rivals Sao Paulo in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.

Marinho combined with Jean Mota to put the hosts ahead in the 27th-minute before 19-year-old Pirani doubled the lead from close range after being set up by Kaio Jorge.

The result at the Vila Belmiro stadium leaves Santos ninth in the 20-team standings, five points behind leaders Athletico Paranaense.

Sao Paulo continue to seek their first top-flight victory under manager Hernan Crespo and are 18th with just two points from five matches.

In Curitiba, Matheus Babi and Christian Cardoso scored either side of halftime as Athletico Paranaense continued their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 home win over Atletico Goianiense.

Paulo Autuori's men now have four victories from as many matches and are one point clear of second-placed Fortaleza.

In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Sunday, Juventude won 1-0 at home to Sport Recife, Fluminense drew 1-1 at Fortaleza, Ceara drew 1-1 at Internacional, Bahia and Corinthians played out a goalless draw in Salvador and Palmeiras clinched a 2-1 home win over America Mineiro. Enditem
