LUSAKA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of the Zambia national women's soccer team on Tuesday expressed confidence that the team will kick-start its participation at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games brightly.

Bruce Mwape said the Copper Queens would count on experience from previous international tournaments in their first game against the Netherlands.

The team was expected to face the Netherlands on Wednesday. "We know it's the Netherlands, the team which has a lot of experienced players, but we did well in the preliminaries for us to qualify (to the Olympics), so we expect our players to perform well in this competition," he is quoted as saying by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) on its Facebook page.

He said the team had seen improvements since its historic qualification in March 2020, adding that the technical bench intends to approach the game in a compact manner.

The team is in Group F alongside China as well as Brazil. The next game will be against China on July 24 before playing Brazil three days later. Enditem
