TOKYO, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Estonia have been crowned the women's epee team Olympic champions after defeating Italy 36-32 in the final at the Tokyo Games on Tuesday.

The team of Julia Beljajeva, Katrina Lehis, and Erika Kirpu just won their country's first summer gold medal since Beijing 2008.

Song Sera built a 13-10 lead for South Korea in the third bout, but in the deciding bout Lehis beat South Korea's Injeong Choi 10-6.

"Yes, it was exciting. I was talking to myself out loud under the mask, saying to myself that I can do it. They believe in me, they have trusted me to do this last bout," said Lehis.

Lehis, who won the bronze in individual epee competition, became the third Estonian athlete to claim multiple medals at the same Olympic Games.

"I took everything that I still had left in me after the individual and all of this hard day that we had," she added.

Top-seeded China lost to South Korea 38-29 in the semifinal, after women's individual champion Sun Yiwen was injured and replaced in the fourth bout.

"We lost patience in the game. I got injured while doing an unusual motion to score; we wanted to win too much," said Sun.

Italy beat China 23-21 in the bronze medal bout. Enditem
