Sina Golden League Grabs Gold for Best Amateur Event and Silver for Best Integrated Marketing at SPIA Asia 2019

December 4th, 2019, BEIJING – At the 5th SPIA Asia – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Manila, Philippines, Sina Sports won two different awards out of an unprecedented four nominations. Sina Sports’ 3x3 Golden League (SGL) won the Gold Award for the Amateur Sports Event and the Silver Award in Best Integrated Marketing Campaign of the Year category. Sina Sports was also shortlisted in Best Brand Activation of the Year - DONGFENG VENUCIA and Best Amateur Sports Event of the Year - The Sina Cup Alpine Ski Open Finals 2019.

SGL has received awards at SPIA Asia for the third year in a row, having won Silver for Best Mass Participation Event in 2017 and Gold in the same category in 2018. SGL moves from the Best Mass Participation Event category into The Best Amateur Event category this year. SGL also took the Silver Award in Best Integrated Marketing Campaign of the Year category as WTA 2018 finals won the Gold and Bundesliga Experience Thailand with Oliver Kahn/Bundesliga International won the Bronze. The organizations that took two or more awards at the 2019 SPIA Asia include: Sina Sports, Manchester City, Rugby World Cup, WTA 2018 finals and Shopee & Cristiano Ronaldo Activation.

In 2019, SGL, the largest FIBA-endorsed 3x3 basketball tournament in the world, attracted 120,000 players from 30,000 teams, covering 185 cities across 30 provinces. 30 champion teams will compete for over US$150,000 in prize money and the glory to represent China at the 16-team international invitation tournament Sina Elite League (SEL) featuring some of the best FIBA 3x3 teams in the world. Sina Golden League 2019 received 10 billion hashtag views and 3.5 billion video views on Weibo, China’s most popular social media platform. The large traffic and impact of the event were recognized by our sponsors.

Organized by MMC Sportz, SPIA is well-known for its authority in the sports industry. Over 600 delegates and 60 international speakers and over 500 awards gala guests were in attendance. They focused on the pulse of the industry and witnessed the significant development and prosperity of the Asian sports in 2019. Sina Sports’ Head of International Business Strategy Sam Li participated on a discussion panel on the topic of grassroots basketball in the Philippines and Asia along with representatives from FIBA and the NBA.

In the last two years SPIA Asia award ceremony, Sina 3x3 Golden League won the Silver Award in the Best Mass Participation Event of the Year category in 2017 and then the Gold Award in the same category in 2018. Sina Sports also won the Silver Award for Best Digital Media Platform in 2017.
