YIYANG, Dec. 17(Xinhuanet)-- Athens Olympics semi-finalist Ponsana Boonsak overwhelm South Korea tough guy ShonSeung Mo to set up a big clash with world number one Lin Dan of China in the final at the 2005 Invitational Badminton World Cup here on Saturday.

An undaunted Boonsak from Thailand showed his depth with two straight sets 23-21, 21-15 in front of Olympic silver medalist Shon Seung Mo to advance to the final. While China's ace Lin Dan defeat compatriot world No. 4 Chen Hong 21-14, 6-21, 21-6 to get through.

"It will be a big game tomorrow. Lin Dan is a strong player, and I lost all the three games against him. He is fast and fierce. I don't think I have any advantage over him," said Boonsak.

In the mixed doubles, Indonesian pair Widianto Nova/Natsir Lilyana and Chinese Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen both eased past their rivals to produce a replay of the 2005 World Championships final tomorrow. And the Chinese pair beat the same opponents in the group stage yesterday.

"We didn't try our best yesterday, but we will make 100 percent effort in the final," said Widianto,"But the Chinese pair are more used to the new 21 scoring rules, for they are fast and like attacking."

Xie Xingfang overcame teammate Lu Lan 21-11, 21-19 to welcome world No.1 Zhang Ning, whose semi-final rival Yao Jie of the Netherlands withdrew for injury, in the women's single final.

"I didn't have much chance to face Zhang before, even in training. She is really a top player, so tomorrow's final should be very exciting. And it's a good opportunity for us to get habitual to the new scoring rules," said Xie Xingfang.

In men's doubles, newly crowned world champions Gunawan Tony/Bach Howard of the United States lost to runners-up Wijaya Candra/Budiarto Sigit of Indonesia 18-21, 9-21 in a height weight semi-final, in which the Indonesian duo took revenge of the same pair at the World Championships final.

In the other semi-final clash, Chinese young pair Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun gave no chance to Denish pair Eriksen Jens/Lundgaard Hansen with an easy win of 21-14, 21-12.

Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen downed another Chinese pair Zhang Dan/Zhao Tingting 15-21, 21-9, 21-10 in women's doubles to meet compatriots Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen, who eliminated South Korea's Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun. Enditem
