By Sportswriter Pan Yi HANGZHOU, China, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Thanks to world-class striker Marta's perfect performance, Brazil made history by advancing to the FIFA Women's World Cup final for the first time on Thursday with an incredible 4-0 win over two-time champions the United States. Defending champions Germany, who crushed Norway 3-0 in Wednesday's semi-final, will meet in-form Brazil in the final in Shanghai on Sept. 30. The Germans are facing a jinx that not a single team has defended its championship in history. In the Brazil-U.S. game, Marta, the FIFA best women player of 2006, not only contributed two goals in the duel but also stunned the world again with her amazing quick-pace dribbling skill. Now, Marta is topping the World Cup scorer tally with seven goals. She is also the No.1 candidate for the Golden Ball and Golden Shoe awards. Brazil also ended the United States' 51-game unbeaten run. "The whole team was full of passion. So it was a victory of the team, not myself," Marta said. She also expressed gratitude to her partner up front Cristiane and midfielder Daniela who gave her full support on the pitch. The 4-0 humiliation was the biggest-ever loss for the United States, the women's soccer giant who boast two World Cup champions (1991, 1999) and two Olympic gold medals (1996, 2000). U.S. coach Greg Ryan said,"I got two players to mark Marta. But she was fantastic." An stunning own goal by U.S. midfielder Leslie Osborne on a Brazil's corner kick lifted Brazil to 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. Seven minutes later, Marta broke the U.S. defense from the right wing and sent home a flash low shot. She also sealed the 4-0 win in the 79th minute when she thrusted into the box from the left wing, danced past two defenders and fired another flash low shot home. Cristiane scored the third goal for Brazil on 56 minutes when she secured an accurate pass in the open box and calmly drove the ball into the net. Brazilians' amazing skills created great trouble for the Americans who had to committed fouls to curb the Brazilian attacks, leading to a red card (double yellow) for midfielder Shannon Boxx in the 45th minute. Brazil's previous best result in world arena was the silver medal in Athens 2004 where they were beaten by the United States 2-1 through extra time. Brazil took revenge tonight. In the Germany-Norway duel, substitute Fatmire Bajramaj set up Germany's opening goal one minute after she came off the bench to stand in for under performed Melanie Behringer. Defender Kerstin Stegemann made it 2-0 on 72 minutes after Prinz dribbled into the penalty box and surrounded by two Norwegian defenders, she tapped it back to allow Stegemann to angle in a shot. Just three minutes later, forward Martina Mueller, also a substitute, seized the ball on a mistake by Norway defenders before she easily beat goalkeeper Bente Nordby to tap it into the far corner. Germany also keeps a clean sheet after five games in the tournament without conceding a goal. "I'm very proud of the team," German coach Silvia Neid told a post-match press conference.
