Despite being jet-lagged from a long flight from Shanghai and dealing with a cold, Yao participated in his first training camp workout with little trouble. "The team is much stronger. There are a lot of new guys. I think this team is the one that I want,"said Yao. The question is how Ming will fit in Rick Adelman's scheme. He was mostly a low-block pivot under Jeff Van Gundy, rarely playing near the elbow. He'll be asked to do more with Adelman. Rather than just camping out on the low block, the center will be more on the move this season and will have to get up and down the floor. The hope is that he'll take more spot-up shots near the free-throw line and be able to establish position down low more easily after slicing down the lane from the elbow. The Rockets saw a center on Friday who could adapt well to a coach's scheme. "He already seemed pretty comfortable," Rockets star Tracy McGrady said. "He didn't ask any questions when we were going through it so I guess he's been studying. He's getting up and down the court and he's in great shape." Ming did say that he felt more comfortable with the offense but had a long way to go. "I understand more about the system," Ming said. "We're growing our chemistry with the teammates, because in the new system, everybody can shoot and the open-shot timing will be different. I need to know that better so in the season, I won't miss anything. As the first preseason game was coming soon (Tuesday), Yao said they needed more experience and needed to learn from mistakes and success. (Agencies)
