BRUSSELS, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Rising Dutch star Ibrahim Afellay has extended his contract with Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven until June 30, 2011, PSV General Manager Jan Reker announced Tuesday at the club.

"PSV are absolutely delighted with the extension. Afellay is a key player and he is going to make an even greater impact during the next few seasons. This is great news for PSV," said Reker.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined the junior team of PSV 12 years ago in the 1996-1997 season, has come through the ranks at PSV.

He made his PSV senior debut in the 2003-2004 season, and soon became a first-team regular and was called up to the Netherlands squad.

Afellay, of Moroccan origin, is seen as one of the biggest talents of the Netherlands, and has made four appearances for the Dutch national team so far.
