LISBON, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo was chosen on Thursday as the best player of the Champions League 2007-2008.

For the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) this recognition is in order to hail the international work of Ronaldo, who currently plays for the Manchester United of Britain and with whom he won the Champions Leagues scoring eight goals.

Ronaldo was also chosen the best player in Britain in 2007, because he was the greatest goal maker of the League by scoring 31 goals and he received the Golden Boot.

Currently Ronaldo is out of fields since he has a lesion in his ankle and he is recovering.

Ronaldo, who is considered as the best player of the world, is also candidate to receive the Golden Ball that FIFA gives every year.

Ronaldo also was chosen the best forward according to the UEFA.

Real Madrid team from Spain made all possible to contract Ronaldo for this summer, but he said that he will stay at least one year more with the Manchester United, although Ronaldo did not hide his dream of playing for Real Madrid.
