CHICAGO – Chicago first lady Maggie Daley and more than a dozen athletes are on their way to Copenhagen, where the International Olympic Committee will decide whether her city will host the 2016 Summer Games.

Among those joining Daley for a Monday night sendoff at O'Hare International Airport were husband-and-wife gymnastic stars Nadia Comaneci and Bart Conner and track ace Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

Daley's husband, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, already is in the Danish capital pushing the U.S. bid. Chicago is a finalist along with Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro.

Chicago's delegation got a mega dose of star power earlier Monday when the White House announced President Barack Obama also would personally lobby for the city's bid. The president is expected to leave Thursday.
