GENEVA, Jun. 13 (Xinhua) -- China returned to the top of the podium at the Montreux Volley Masters, defeating the United States 3-1 in the final on Sunday.
Cuba took the bronze medal after easing past Russia 3-0.
In the final, the U.S. convinced with an excellent block-defense strategy, and the Chinese women enchanted the audience with well-timed attack combinations.
The starting set finished on 25-23 in favor of the United States. In the second set, the Americans controlled the game until 16-10, but then 2007 champions China hit back with some important points when they were most needed.
After two hours, Beijing Olympics bronze medallists China clinched the victory in 23-25, 29-27, 25-22 and 25-20 and celebrated the fifth victory in Montreux.
Cuba made numerous mistakes on Saturday's matches against the U.S.,which stopped them from playing the final, but the Caribbean team learned lessons from it and made only 11 direct errors during the match on Sunday.Cuba beat Russia by 25-13, 25-18, 27-25 and finished third at the 2010 Montreux Volley Masters.
