Chinese Wu wins first three golds in junior weightlifting worlds

SOFIA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Wu Yanmei won the first three gold medals in the Junior World Weightlifting Championships here on Monday.

The 18-year-old dominated the women's 48kg class in the first category of tournament as she successfully lifted 84kg in the snatch and hoisted 103kg in the jerk, achieving 187kg in total.

Saziye Okur of Turkey conceded to the silvers at a total of 178kg, 78kg in the snatch and 100kg in the clean and jerk competitions, while Japanese Mizuochi Honami took the three bronze medals at 172kg, 77kg and 95kg respectively.

270 junior weightlifters, 170 men and 100 women, participate in this championships ending on Sunday.

The opening ceremony on Monday was attended by the International Weightlifting Federation's (IWF) President Tamas Ajan, the General Secretary Ma Wenguang and other IWF high officials.
