Jade Jones strikes taekwondo gold at YOG

Jade Jones became Britain's first Youth Olympic Games medalist last night after striking gold in the women's-55kg taekwondo category.

The Welsh teenager, 17, overcame Than Thao Nguyen of Vietnam in a sudden death play-off. Level at 6-6 after three rounds it took the youngster just six seconds to deliver the decisive blow to her rival and celebrate victory on the third day of the Games in Singapore.

'It's just amazing,' said Jones after her win. 'I can't explain it. It's unbelievable.' Team GB's rowing pairs compete to come through their semi-finals today.
