BERLIN, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Wolfsburg maintained their unbeaten start after Wout Weghorst cancelled out Niko Gisselmann's opener to share the spoils with Fortuna Dusseldorf at the curtain raiser of the 4th round in Bundesliga on Friday.

The visitors took the reins from the kick-off and squandered a promising chance to break the deadlock with three minutes played when Maximilian Arnold missed the target, shooting just wide from inside the box following a rebound.

However, the opener was scored at the other end of the pitch as Nico Giesselmann marked his first-ever Bundesliga goal with a hammer into the roof of the net with 16 minutes played.

The "Wolves" needed some time to recover but responded well as Josip Brekalo's build-up work and square pass allowed Wout Weghorst to restore parity from close range in the 29th minute.

After the restart, Wolfsburg controlled possession whereas Dusseldorf focused on counter-attacks. Nevertheless, chances were at a premium at both ends of the pitch for the remainder of the second half.

With the result, Fortuna Dusseldorf ended their two-game losing streak meanwhile Wolfsburg climbed on the second place to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

"I am very satisfied with my team's performance. They implemented our strategy very well and secured a deserved point on home soil," Eintracht Frankfurt's head coach Friedhelm Funkel said.

The following fixtures are scheduled for Saturday: front runners Leipzig encounter defending champions Bayern Munich, Cologne see Monchengladbach, Dortmund host Leverkusen, Mainz face Hertha Berlin, newly promoted Union Berlin clash with Werder Bremen and Augsburg take on Eintracht Frankfurt.
