HONG KONG, Nov. 10(Xinhuanet)-- The public consultation on the West Kowloon Cultural District project will begin next month, earlier than planned, Chief Secretary for Administration Donald Tsang told legislators here Wednesday.
The exercise, originally planned for early next year, has been brought forward to mid-December as the assessment process of the five project design proposals has been smooth, Tsang said.
Tsang said proposals submitted by two of the five proponents, Swire Properties and Lam Sze-tat, have not met the basic requirements and have been screened out. Plans from World City Culture Park, Sunny Development and Dynamic Star International arestill under consideration, and public views on their plans will besought.
"We will invite screened-in proponents to take part in the consultations. They will provide exhibits for public comment, including models made to scale and the contents of their proposals.This exhibition will take place at the Science Museum and will last about six weeks. The government will distribute questionnaires to collect visitors' views on the screened-in proposals," Tsang said.
To let more people learn about the screened-in proposals, the government will also display a summary of them at places where people converge, including five Leisure and Cultural Services Department venues.
Moreover, the government will also hold discussion forums in various districts to collect views from various sectors.
