China Unicom wins Macao's CDMA license bidding

BEIJING, Mar. 12 -- China Unicom has won a CDMA service license bidding in Macao.

The successful bid for operating CDMA¡ªthe acronym for Code Division Multiple Access¡ªservice in Macao gets a 10-year service term for Unicom.

Unicom will launch the service prior to the opening of the 4th East Asian Games in Macao by the end of October.

The company will be able to offer Macao citizens CDMA rambling and value-added services when they travel to China's mainland.

China Unicom boasts the largest CDMA network in the world and is the service provider for 28 million CDMA users on the Chinese mainland.
