Taiwan PFP chief to begin mainland trip on May 5

BEIJING, April 26-- Soong Chu-yu, chairman of Taiwan's opposition People First Party, will travel to Beijing early next month, also for talks with leaders of the Chinese Communist Party.

Leaving on the fifth of May, Chairman Soong will travel to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Xiangtan on an eight-day trip.

Soong's itinerary was set following all-night talks between officials of the Chinese Communist Party and the People First Party in Beijing on Sunday. Both parties expressed hope that the talks will promote exchanges between them, and will benefit peoples across the Taiwan Straits.
