HK celebrities support Donald Tsang's running for CE election

¡@HONG KONG, June 2(Xinhuanet)-- Hong Kong celebrities have expressed their support of Donald Tsang's running for the Chief Executive election after he explained his policy blueprint to Grand Bauhinia Medal winners at a tea party Thursday evening.

Tung Chee-hwa, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, told reportersafter the tea party that Tsang is the best candidate because of his ability, experience and a high level of public support. He loves Hong Kong and the country, and is capable of leading Hong Kong to move forward, he said. Tung hoped all people could supportTsang.

Chung Sze-yuen, convener of the first Executive Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, said he has been working with Tsang for years and is well aware of his morality. With decades of experience in administration, it will bea good thing for Hong Kong if he could be elected as the new ChiefExecutive. Chung said he personally supports Tsang's running for the election and wishes him success.

Former Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan Fang On-sang also supported Tsang's running for the election. She said shebelieved that Tsang, an honest and able man, could be a good ChiefExecutive and live up to the expectation of the Hong Kong people.

Vice chairwoman of the Liberal Party Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yeesaid that according to a public survey conducted by her party, most of the Hong Kong people support Tsang to be the new Chief Executive. Among the possible candidates for the election, Tsang enjoys most experience and abilities in administration, she added.

Vicent Cheng Hoi-chuen, chairman of Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp, said he has known Tsang for some time and believed that he will give top priority to preserving and pushing forward Hong Kong's overall interests.

A number of Executive Councilors also expressed their support of Tsang's running for the election.

Bernard Charnwut Chan said Tsang is a right candidate to communicate with the Hong Kong people, major political parties andthe central government.

Andrew Liao said Tsang is a good candidate for the Chief Executive. He hoped that Tsang could continue to implement the policy of"One Country, Two Systems" and promote social harmony, stability and prosperity in Hong Kong if elected. Enditem
