Five HK people feared dead in Guangdong traffic accident

HONG KONG, Oct. 2(Xinhuanet)-- Hong Kong television stations reported on Sunday that five Hong Kong people were killed in a traffic accident in Huizhou City of Guangdong province, which is adjacent to Hong Kong.

Radio Television Hong Kong reported that at least one Hong Kong resident was killed in the accident.

A spokeswoman of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region( HKSAR) government said in an interview with Xinhua that the HKSAR government has not confirmed the number of Hong Kong resident-related causalities so far.

She said the Immigration Department and HKSAR government office in Beijing has contacted related Guangdong local authorities to follow the development of the situation.

She said the government will provide every possible effort to help the Hong Kong residents involved in the accident.

A private car collided with a truck in the small hours Sunday morning, leaving five dead and two injured. The injured may also include Hong Kong people, Hong Kong media reported. Enditem
