HONG KONG, Oct 18 (AP) -- Hong Kong actor-singer Andy Lau says he expects his new role in an upcoming action movie set in ancient China to be physically taxing, but that he's prepared.

"Mozi's War Strategy," based on a Japanese comic book, is the story of a follower of ancient Chinese philosopher Mozi who must fend off other followers who have strayed from the beliefs of the anti-war thinker.

Lau said his role involves major fighting scenes and that he's ready.

"The role requires a proficiency in action sequences. Most scenes are comic book-style, so I think it will be quite difficult. But I'm physically ready," the 44-year-old star told The Associated Press Monday at the premiere of his romance movie "All About Love."

Lau said he leaves for Beijing Wednesday for a month of filming. He said he will resume filming in January at a different location.
