The 47-year-old Leung was also fined of 10,000 HK dollars(about 1,292 US dollars) and disqualified for driving for three years. His jail term, however, will be suspended for three years.

Leung is a famous actor in the Chinese-language film circle and gained international fame by his performance in 1992 in The Lover, a movie based on the French writer Marguerite Duras' novel bearing the same name.

The judge first sentenced Leung to three-month imprisonment, but shortened it to two months due to his good attitude, reported the radio HKTR.

Leung, who had a record of drunk driving case in 2002, pleaded guilty for his behavior last October, when a car driven by him rammed into the tail of a mini bus in a tunnel in eastern Hong Kong Island.

A breathalyzer test then showed the alcohol level in Leung's blood was twice higher than that allowed by law.
