He made the remarks at a press conference on Tuesday after announcing that Joseph Wong has been appointed Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce, Industry& Technology and Denise Yue is the new Secretary for the Civil Service, with the approval of the State Council on his nomination.

Tsang also announced at the press conference the appointment of John Tsang as Director of the Chief Executive's Office and all the appointments take effect on Tuesday.

"I am sure the three newly appointed officials will work closely with other Principal Officials as a team in helping me further the policy initiatives in these areas," Tsang said.

The Chief Executive has earlier said he and the Principal Officials are reviewing policy initiatives' priorities for the coming 18 months and will focus the Administration's efforts to promote economic development and improve people's livelihood.

Aged 57, Joseph Wong Wing-ping graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1969. He joined the Administrative Service in 1973 and has since served in a wide range of government posts. He became Secretary for Education and Manpower in 1995 and took up the post of Secretary for the Civil Service in August 2000.

Aged 53, Denise Yue Chung-yee graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1974 and the Harvard University in 1988. She joined the civil service in 1974 and has served in a number of senior positions. Yue took up the post of Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology(Commerce and Industry) in July 2002.

John Tsang Chun-wah, 54, studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received a master degree in bilingual education from Boston State College and a master degree in public administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

John Tsang joined the civil service in 1982. He was Permanent Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands(Planning and Lands) from 2002 to 2003 and was appointed Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology in August 2003. Enditem
