MACAO, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The Macao-Zhuhai cross-border industrial zone is to open in the third quarter, local media reported Friday.

The Macao Post Daily quoted Tam Pak Yuen, Macao's secretary for economy and finance, as saying that the construction of checkpoints and factories had "basically" been done.

The interior decoration will "possibly" start in July, the official was cited by the newspaper.

The industrial zone comprises 0.4 square kilometers, 0.11 and 0.29 for the Macao and Zhuhai sides respectively, according to the newspaper.

Macao and the mainland city of Zhuhai will manage their parts separately, it reported.

Some 23 Macao enterprises will be based in the Macao park of the zone, it added. Enditem
