Dengue fever cases hit 163 in Taiwan: reports

HONG KONG, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Rainy weather over the past week in Taiwan has added the province's number of epidemic dengue fever cases to 163, according to media reports reaching here Tuesday from Taipei.

Of these cases, 105 were reported in Kaohsiung City, 55 in Kaohsiung County and three in Pingtung County, all in the southern parts of Taiwan Province, local media quoted disease control officials as saying.

Local health officials were cited as saying that Kaohsiung City was the worst hit by the outbreak this year, with the diseases being reported in its 25 boroughs. Enditem
