Chinese top leaders watch mainland, Taiwan traditional opera performance

BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese leaders watched the grand performance of traditional operas staged by artists from both the mainland and Taiwan on Wednesday evening.

The grand evening party, staged by the Fujian Media Group in Beijing's Chang An Grand Theater, featured various kinds of Chinese traditional operas to showcase the fruit of the cross-Straits cultural exchanges.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, watched the performance together with Beijing audience.
