HK to hold 1st int'l trade fair on environmental protection

HONG KONG, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Eco Expo Asia, the first ever trade fair for environmental protection in Hong Kong, will open here next Friday, Hong Kong Trade Development Council said here Wednesday.

Organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt, it will run until Oct. 30 at Asia World-Expo and will open to the public on the Oct. 29.

Over 120 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions will be taking part in Eco Expo Asia, with the majority of exhibitors coming from Hong Kong. The show has also attracted exhibitors from the Chinese Mainland and across Asia Pacific as well as places such as Canada, Sweden, Germany, Poland, the UK and the United States.

According to the organizer, the trade fair will be divided into three main areas: Green World, Green Enterprise and Green Living. These areas will concentrate on environmental systems and technologies, environmentally friendly systems and products for business operations and eco-friendly consumer products and services. Air pollution solutions, recycling technology and organic products are some examples of what can be seen across these three main areas at the show.

One of the key attractions of the show will be the Eco Expo Conference featuring experts from the field of environmental protection. An advisory committee made up of academics and industry experts carefully selected the speakers and the subject matter of the conference.

The seminars for trade, which take place on Oct. 27 and 28, will address issues such as solutions to air pollution, alternative energy, recycling, water and waste management. Topics to be presented included 'Strategies for air pollution control in Hong Kong'; 'Groundwater pollution for Chinese Mainland'; ' Strategy on waste management and recycling'; and 'Latest technology on used oil recycling'.
