HK surpasses Japan in longevity

SHANGHAI, Mar 13 -- HONG Kong has overtaken Japan for life expectancy. Men in the city are expected to live an average of 79.5 years, and women to 85.6 years.

According to a study in Japan covering the period from 2001 through 2005, issued early this month, men's life span is 78.56 years in the country, and women's is 85.52 years.
