JACKIE Chan and Jet Li, the two stars of the kung fu film "The Forbidden Kingdom," earned the same salary for the movie -- US$10 million, a well-informed source said, quashing rumors that Chan made more than Li. Shooting of the star-studded film finished yesterday, and the flick is expected to hit big screens in May or during the summer holiday of next year, Eastday.com reported today. The martial arts movie marks the first cooperation between Chan and Li, The film includes several traditional Chinese mythical figures, such as the Monkey King and Sha Monk, two figures from "Record of a Journey to the West" -- one of China's four classic novels. Both Chan and Li will play two roles a piece in the movie. Li, the Monkey King, and Lan Cai He -- one of China's Eight Fairies. Chan will mainly play Sha Monk in the movie. The movie tells the adventurous story of a little boy who encounters the Monkey King after he magically goes back in time and the search for the golden cudgel -- the Monkey King's most powerful weapon. Film director Robert Minkoff said it's an unforgettable experience to cooperate with the best actors in China.
