BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- More than 400 candidates were registered to campaign for Taiwan's "legislator" elections when the application period closed on Tuesday, according to reports by Taiwan-based media.

The reports said 132 applicants from 13 parties will seek positions as non-regional "legislators". Another 296 will contend for regional posts.

The seventh election of Taiwan's "legislative Yuan" (the island's "parliament") will be held in January.
