BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Frank Hsieh said Friday that he will be the acting chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) until the election of a new chairman on May 25, according to reports by Taiwan-based media.
On March 26, Hsieh announced that he would keep his words to resign as the DPP chairman, after he was defeated by Ma Ying-jeou of the Kuomintang (KMT) in Taiwan's elections on March 22.
Afterwards, the DPP held a top-level meeting and decided that Hsieh should stay on for the party's internal reform.
