Macao records over 1 mln border crossings during Ching Ming holidays

MACAO, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Over one million border crossings were registered in Macao during the three-day Ching Ming holidays, according to statistics released on Monday by the Immigration Department of the SAR's (Special Administrative Region) Public Security Police.

The official figures showed that the total number of arrivals stood at 513,340 while departures amounted to 499,693 during the holidays lasted from April 4 to 6.

Meanwhile, the SAR saw 269,366 tourist arrivals during the holidays, the Immigration Department said.

As a traditional Chinese festival, Ching Ming was observed in China as the tomb-sweeping day when families honor their ancestors.
