HONG KONG, April 8 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of 10 Hong Kong Immigration officers will leave on an 11-day study visit to the Chinese mainland on Wednesday to enhance co-operation with relevant mainland authorities.

Director of Immigration Peh Yun-lu said co-operation and communication between the department and mainland authorities have been increasing since Hong Kong's return to the motherland, said a press release from the Information Services of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Tuesday.

He said regular study visits to the Chinese mainland are highly desirable as they facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience with mainland counterparts.

The delegation will visit Beijing, Changchun of Jilin province and Hefei of Anhui province.

The delegation will visit the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Capital International Airport, the Immigration Section of the HKSAR government's Beijing Office and the Public Security Bureau, Foreign Affairs Office, and travel document and exit-endorsement-issuing offices in several cities, the press release said.

The delegation will return to Hong Kong on April 19.
