MACAO, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Heavy shower poured on Macao on Friday morning, flooding parts of the city's streets and forcing local authorities to temporarily closed schools.

The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued the rainstorm signal this morning, warning of showers heavy and thundery at times with moderate gusty south to southeasterly winds, which can cause poor to fair visibility.

A district near the island city's inner harbor was waterlogged due to the heave showers in the morning, and some of the gas stations there were closed temporarily.

Bad weather also caused some flights in the Macao International Airport to be delayed, stranding a number of passengers in the airport. Meanwhile, sea traffic control was also implemented at the city's outer harbor.

However, the heavy rain turned out to be "good news" for local student, as the city's education authorities ordered all kindergartens and schools to suspend classes this afternoon for the bad weather.

The SMG has forecast that there still is a possibility of thunderstorms on Saturday.
