MACAO, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Macao's unemployment rate in the period from August to October declined further to 1.9 percent, according to the figures released on Tuesday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The figure was down by 0.1 percentage point over the previous period of July to September 2012, said the DSEC.
The city's total labor force was 353,300 in the period, with the labor force participation rate standing at 72.3 percent. Total employment reached 346,600, an increase of 2,400 over the previous period, the DSEC figures indicated.
Analysed by industry, notable increase was observed in the employment in retail trade and construction.
The DSEC also said that the number of the local unemployed decreased by 300 from the previous period to 6,700 in the period, of which fresh labor force entrants accounted for 19.3 percent, down by 1.5 percentage points over the previous period.
In comparison with the period of August to October 2011, the labour force participation rate, the unemployment rate and the underemployment rate decreased by 1.0, 0.6 and 0.2 percentage point respectively.
