"The central government will fully support the Macao SAR government and its chief executive to administer the region in line with the law," said Hu at a meeting with Ho Hau Wah, Macao SAR Chief Executive, who came to deliver an annual report on his work. The central government will adhere to the principles of "One Country, Two Systems" and "Macao people administer Macao" with a high degree of autonomy, as has been the case previously, Hu said. "We have full confidence in Macao's future development," Hu added. Hu also spoke highly of the progress Macao has made and the work of Ho and the MSAR government. Since the region returned to the motherland eight years ago, Macao has achieved impressive economic and social progress, Hu said.
