FUZHOU, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Ferry service linking China's mainland with Taiwan was suspended with the arrival of a powerful typhoon that hit Taiwan early on Monday morning and was heading to east China's Fujian Province for another landfall.

The Quanzhou Ferry Terminal in Fujian was closed at 8 a.m. The terminal authority said that it cancelled four scheduled trips to Jinmen Port in Taiwan on Monday.

Resumption of service would depend on the movement of the storm, it said.

Fung Wong made landfall in southern Taiwan, affecting the whole island with wind and rain. Schools and businesses were closed on Monday.

The coastal city of Quanzhou was affected by the typhoon, with high tides and heavy rain on Monday morning.
