SHANGHAI, May 10 -- Two experts from Britain and Sweden were awarded the 2006 international scientific and technological cooperation award of China yesterday for their contributions to China's scientific development.

British chemist Dr Martin Atkins and Swedish biochemist Dr Ingemar Ernberg shared the annual award offered by the central government to foreign experts.

Dr Atkins has improved cooperation between Britain and China in chemical engineering.

Dr Ernberg has encouraged cooperation in medical education with various Chinese institutions.
