Launch of new satellite delayed in India
2007-09-02 05:52:14 Xinhua English

NEW DELHI, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The countdown for the launch of a rocket carrying INSAT-4CR was stopped due to a "technical snag in parameters related to the launch," the Press Trust of India cited sources in the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) as saying on Sunday.

The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-FO4 was scheduled to lift off at 4.21 p.m. local time with India's latest communications satellite INSAT-4CR.

It was announced that the launch had been re-scheduled at 6.20 p.m. local time.

The ISRO scientists say they are extra careful this time to ensure that the vehicle does not meet the same fate of its predecessor, the GSLV-F02, in July 2006, when it had strayed away from its path, forcing them to destroy it 56 seconds after takeoff.Enditem
