Website to make city travel an easy drive
2007-09-29 02:21:43 Shanghai Daily

IF you want to find a house or an office and you have the street name and number, just log onto the city's new road map Website.

The Shanghai Road Administrative Office announced yesterday that it has upgraded its homepage www.highway.sh.cn so that it now gives more information.

The new site will tell you the quickest route to follow to reach a destination, traffic density and weather forecasts.

"The new Website will provide a quick, easy-to-use and accurate service," Dong Hui, a Website official, said yesterday.

Compared to the old Website which was launched in 2004, the new one has a lot more on offer including new search functions and a running news headline service.

Users can now just click to find exact locations - much quicker than reading a printed map.

Moreover the Website will tell drivers the best traffic routes from any part of the city's 18 districts or Chongming Island to hundreds of key venues.

Also on the Website, users can check the traffic conditions in any part of the city before leaving home.
