Russia launches cargo spacecraft to space station

MOSCOW, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- A Russian Soyuz-U launcher with the Progress M-62 cargo spacecraft atop on Sunday blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, news agencies reported.

The spacecraft will carry on its three-day flight to the International Space Station (ISS) and is scheduled to dock to the ISS on Wednesday, Interfax cited a spokesman of the Mission Control Center in Moscow region.

The spacecraft is loaded with New Year presents for ISS crew members, as well as food, air and oxygen resources, water and fuel for the ISS, he said.
