SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) on Tuesday announced that it is buying software security company Fortify to broaden its offerings of application security solutions.
In a press release, HP said the purchase will enable it to offer a complete solution that helps organizations reduce business risk and protect against malicious attacks "by integrating security assurance seamlessly across the application life cycle."
Fortify, a privately held company based in San Mateo in the U.S. state of California, provides products and services that are designed to protect companies from the threats posed by security flaws in business-critical software applications.
HP plans to run Fortify initially as a standalone entity and eventually integrate it into HP's Software and Solutions business.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed by HP.
