Samsung releases "Galaxy S3" to challenge iPhone

BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Samsung’s latest smartphone "Galaxy S3" was revealed on in London, according to media reports Friday.

The new phone was considered by some analysts as the biggest competitor to the iPhone, as the company announced the phone will go on sale in 145 countries with 296 phone companies, making it the company's biggest launch so far.

With four computing cores in its processor, the phone could have a better performance in voice-command features -- owners can "wake" it up by saying "Hi, Galaxy", when the phone screen is off, said Samsung.

Compared with the previous Galaxy phone, the new product’s screen will be expanded to 12.2 cm while the phone is only 8.6 mm thick and weighs 133 grams.

The new phone will be put in the market in Europe on May 29 and in the U.S. this summer, announced Samsung.
