The scent of a burger can tantalize the taste buds and release the pangs of hunger, but who wants to smell like one?
Apparently, thousands of people.
Burger King released a cologne called Flame that claims to hint of "flame-broiled meat."
And it's a whopper-sized hit.
The spray, or at least the novelty of it, seduced consumers.
It's completely sold out at the hip cosmetics chain, Ricky's NYC, its exclusive distributor.
Luis Berjaran said one customer was ravenous.
"As soon as we told him we didn't have the product, he was like, what? You don't have the cheeseburger smelling cologne for me? My girlfriend wants me to smell that. What am I supposed to do - rub a cheeseburger on top of me, or a whopper?
Actually, Flame has a more woodsy essence than a beefy one. Still, some New Yorkers like Kyle Graham were skeptical.
"To go out and actively try to get that smell, it's probably not a good idea. But maybe there are some couples out there who find that to be their thing."
That thing costs just under four dollars.
That's one-tenth the price of an Aramis bottle.
But on the auction site ebay, prices range up to 150 dollars.
Rickys says it'll get another shipment in next week.
And while Flame is a limited edition product, Rickys expects to have enough bottles on hand for Valentine's Day.
Hope it won't turn your significant other into a putrid cupid. Fred Katayama, Reuters.
