R&B star Chris Brown, who was arrested last weekend on suspicion of attacking a woman widely believed to be the pop star Rihanna, say's he's "sorry and saddened" about the incident and was seeking counseling. The Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating, and a spokeswoman for the L.A. District Attorney's Office said a decision has not yet been made on whether to file charges.
What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than to watch college kids get slaughtered in a remake of "Friday the 13th"? The revival of the slasher franchise easily took the No. 1 spot at the North American box office this weekend, setting a new record for a horror opening with estimated sales of 42 million dollars (USD).
Last weekend's champion, Warner Bros.' ensemble romance "He's Just Not That Into You," slipped to No. 2 with 19.5 million.
The thriller "Taken" fell one place to No. 3 with 19 million in its third weekend. While the Disney comedy "Confessions of a Shopaholic" rounded out the top 4 with a modest 15 million.
Lastly, vintage nude Madonna photos are apparently a good investment. A full frontal nude photo of the singer, taken in 1979 before she became famous, has sold at auction for $37,500 -- more than double its pre-sale estimate.
