China cooperates with U.S and U.K

The Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi addressing a news conference in the famous great hall of the people in Beijing.

He is talking on the the sidelines of China's annual session of parliament, and says international cooperation is key to weathering the financial crisis.

SOUNDBITE: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi saying (Mandarin):

"The pressing task now is that all countries must work together to make the upcoming financial summit in London a success. We believe the summit should play a role in boosting public confidence.''

Leaders from 19 developed and developing countries and the European Union are expected to meet in London on April 2 for the G20 summit. They'll discuss global stability, growth and jobs.

SOUNDBITE: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi saying (Mandarin):

"We are ready to work with the United States and other countries involved to weather the storm and make joint efforts to overcome the difficulties brought by the financial crisis."

Yang also used the conference to ask countries to not let the Dalai Lama use their territory to promote Tibetan independence.
