Garden shed cinema

A British pensioner turns his garden shed into a 1940s-style movie theatre.

Donald Parr never forgot the cinema where he worked as a projectionist in central England when he was a teenager in 1943.

He's created a whole 1940s-style cinema in his own garden shed.

It's just six metres by three and seats and audience of 14.

SOUNDBITE: Donald Parr saying (English):

"Originally I estimated it cost about 2, 500 to 3, 000 pounds to construct originally but of course we've been adding to it then. Well, I never kept an actual check on it but it must run into 8, 000 or 9, 000 pounds now."

The mini movie theatre is decked out in 1940s posters and even has seats salvaged from a full-sized cinema.

It's not entirely stuck in a time-warp though.

The cinema's authentic 16-millimetre film projectors have been replaced by a modern Blu-ray DVD player.

That hasn't bothered the movie-goers.

SOUNDBITE: Jackie, cinema-goer, saying (English):

"We think it's great, it's novel. We've dragged three parties of people so far her. Everyone can't believe there is a cinema in the garden so seeing is believing and they all enjoy it and think it's so qaint and love it when they get here."

The cinema that first fired Donald's passion has long gone.

But at least the step back in time is only a short walk down his own garden path.
