A metal baggage container was sucked into an engine of a Boeing 747 belonging to Japan Airlines as it was leaving a terminal gate Monday, May 11, 2009 at Los Angeles International Airport, the US.
Airport officials said the vacuum created by the air intake of the left outboard engine was so strong that it pulled the empty container off a baggage cart that was either parked or driven too close to the aircraft.
The 245 passengers were taken back to the terminal.
